La Sabranenque would like to contribute to the safeguard of rural architecture and offers you:

• To actively participate in restoration work projects
• To contribute to the preservation of historic sites and monuments 
• To learn the techniques of traditional builders: stone masonry, paving, dry stone walling…
• To live in the heart of a typical rural village
• To share connections with an international team

The old village

The traditional rural habitats to the simple but harmonious architecture, offers a living space where people can have a direct relationship with their environment.  In the Mediterranean regions of Europe this traditional way of living still exists today, with its rich beauty and “hominess” feel to it.  This way of living is in-fact being replaced by urban living.   Little by little this traditional yet simple way of living is unfortunately disappearing.

La Sabranenque restoration projects focus on saving and revitalizing these rural sites by continually using and teaching the traditional methods.  In turn, each participant comes away with his or her own personal experience, and has been opened to the value and importance of this type of heritage.
The volunteers contribute directly to the preservation of this rural construction and to the continuation of the traditional building methods used.  They become responsible within a group and take an active part in the continuing projects at La Sabranenque.
